Hi everyone,
Taking long-term antibiotics, while I know is what all y'all are coveting, has its drawbacks. For one, it means I have to swallow pills too many to count three times a day, including one that leaves the nastiest, chalkiest, most bitter taste in my mouth if I leave it on my tongue for any length of time. Another drawback of taking antibiotics for any length of time is the fact that it wipes out all the flora in my immune system; it makes no difference between the good and bad flora. Apparently, this is necessary to be sure all the buggers are killed. The problem with this smoke-out is that I tend to catch other buggers, particularly the common cold.
Right now I am dealing with my third cold in four months. I caught my first cold the day I arrived in Florida and held onto that one for about twelve days. The next cold I caught was in late November. I held onto that one for about seven days. I caught my current cold on Friday. So far, it's been pretty nasty - a lot of snot and difficulty breathing out of my nose.
The best thing about having a cold is that it makes me temporarily forget about all my other health problems. Perhaps my body has taken a break from fighting off the Lyme buggers to go fight the cold buggers. Or perhaps I am just embracing a psychological vacation from focusing so much on Lyme to fight this small battle. Either way, I fancy the reprieve, even though I'd rather be vacationing in Costa Rica. But, hey, beggars can't be choosers.
Soon enough, the cold will go away and my body will return to fighting the Queen Bee. I suppose Costa Rica will have to wait.

I'd Rather Vacation in Costa Rica
