Hi everyone,
The sun shines, the air crackles, the leaves burst, and I smile. Days like these are pleasant, not only because of the weather, a weather that beckons us all out to play, but days like these are pleasant because my mind is clear and my energy is high. I can walk: I no longer drudge around as if a heavy weight rests on my shoulders. I can think: I no longer stop thinking to save any ounce of mental energy I need to get me home. I can run: I ran to catch the MAX the other day. I missed the train as much as I missed what it felt like to run and not get tired. I'm beginning to have more and more of these pleasant days, which are becoming strung together like popcorn tinsel.
I have many "words of jubilation" these days. I feel like dancing, like playing, like flirting. I feel light and free and peaceful. I have thoughts like, I can work, and, I could be in a relationship right now. I feel released, released to pursue something different, something new. I am thankful, thankful for legs that walk, thankful for friends and family who have supported me the entire way, thankful that I am engaging the possibility.
Right now, most of the symptoms I feel are the result of coiling, which I am now doing twice a week as much as we can help it. Lisa has more time on her hands now and since she is my ride, I am gladly treating more often. Fortunately, my herxes have decreased in intensity and length. I am noticing that I am feeling more tired the day or two after each treatment, but, compared to the past, they are so minimal that sometimes I hardly recognize the fatigue. It certainly does not keep me from my planned (or unplanned) activities.
Another symptom I have noticed these last few weeks is acid reflux. I googled "acid reflux Lyme Disease" to see if this was a symptom common with Lyme. (Sometimes I wonder if you could google just about any two terms and find a reference to it on the web. It sure sounds like it would be a fun game to play with friends.) Anyhow, I also searched for a list of symptoms to help me determine if the burning sensation I was feeling in my throat, neck, and everywhere else above my collar bone was acid reflux. Indeed, I think it is. This just means that I need to stay away from tomatoes, oranges, and anything terribly acidic. I'm used to dietary restrictions, so this new one doesn't bother me. And based on previous experience, give me a month and I will be eating tomatoes and oranges with little problem.
I hope this day finds you all at peace. If you are a Lyme sufferer, please be kind to yourself.
A.

Hurray! Glad you are feeling so good these days!!! It really does make you want to jump and yell hallelujah, doesn't it? So many simple pleasures people take for granted like walking, talking, and feeling well are such a huge blessing! :)
When I got acid reflux once, I ate yogurt every morning on an empty stomach for a month and it went away completely. It could mean either a) your stomach is not producing enough acid to break down food (1 capsule Betaine HCL before meals would take care of that along with a digestive enzyme complex), b) It is producing too much acid in which case taking yogurt/acidophilus/probiotics every day on an empty stomach would balance it out after a bit. It can also be caused by a food intolerance/allergy.. this is common for people with gluten sensitivities, gluten often gives them an acid stomach. I would pay attention to what you're doing/eating prior to the acid occurrence :).
Best,
A
Athena,
Thanks for the advice. I haven't been eating yogurt or kefir as much mostly because my body was getting sick of eating it all the time. But I actually just bought some yogurt yesterday, so I suppose my body is hungry for it again. :) Thanks again.
